Workshop: High–Level Lunch debate on “Future research infrastructure for European leadership in circular forest bioeconomy”

The European Research Infrastructure for Circular Forest Bioeconomy (ERIFORE) is pleased to invite you to the 9th EIS High – Level Lunch debate on “Future research infrastructure for European leadership in circular forest bioeconomy”. The event, co-hosted by Sirpa Pietikainen MEP and Henna Virkkunen MEP, will take place on Wednesday, 29 November, in the Members’ Salon of the European Parliament from 12:30 to 14:30. The event is organized together with Knowledge4Innovation.

BioBase4SME Workshop: The Collaboration Plan(t)

The biobased economy poses new questions. In stead of huge homogeneous raw material flows, the new raw material is (often) scattered and heterogeneous. For this reason REWIN and Proefboerderij de Rusthoeve, organize the workshop “The Collaboration Plan(t)”, because the solution is found in collaboration.

SmartPilots Study Visit 6: Bioprocess Pilot Facility (NL)

We invite all stakeholders (managing authorities, intermediate bodies, regional funding authorities and applicants, funding beneficiaries, innovation organisations, cluster organisations, users of SPF…) with an interest in shared pilot facilities (SPF) and innovation to be actively involved in this Study Visit.

Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, a pilot plant for biobased products and processes located in the port of Ghent (Belgium) was selected by the European Commission as a demonstrator multi-KETs pilot line. KETs or Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) are considered to directly or indirectly stimulate Europe’s competitiveness and generate jobs, growth and wealth in the economy. Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is a European front runner in terms of industrial biotechnology, one of the six European KETs.

EFRO: Demonstration Equipment for Industrial Biotechnology

January 2014 - June 2015

Europe, Flanders and the Province of East-Flanders invest €1,27 million in new equipment for Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant. These funds were used to purchase and install three new bioreactors with auxiliary equipment and software: two with a volume of 1.500L and one with a volume of 15.000L. This investment enables BBEPP to provide services to even more companies and it will have a larger capacity for producing industrially relevant quantities of innovative biobased products. This is an important tool for companies that wish to test the production of larger batches to prepare market introduction before investing in a full scale production line. Companies collaborating with BBEPP for process validation and scale-up can substantially reduce costs, risks and development time and will reinforce the chance to successful market entry.
