Round-Table on Biotech Act

On Wednesday 8 April, Wim Soetaert, CEO at Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, will be joining an exclusive round-table discussion with Wouter Beke on the Biotech Act.

The EU Biotech Act is a strategic initiative to strengthen the European biotech sector. The legislation aims to accelerate innovation, facilitate market access and improve competitiveness vis-à-vis the US and China, partly by simplifying regulations (such as those relating to clinical trials) and strengthening access to funding.

The European Commission’s proposal is currently being debated in the European Parliament and the Council. MEP Wouter Beke is playing an active role in this as rapporteur for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).

On 8 April (9am–11am), VOKA will explore the legislative proposal further together with Wouter Beke and a number of East Flemish biotech members, and identify the key opportunities and challenges for the sector.
