Cupriavidus necator: an industrial omnivore

CUPRO targets the sustainable production of a fully biodegradable bioplastic with valorisation of the spent microbial protein in feed. This way, CUPRO strives to contribute to the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy while providing solutions for the protein transition.

ACTIVITIES of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant

BBEPP is responsible for:

  • Development of an optimized multi-stage fermentation process for biopolymer accumulation with zero carbon loss
  • Design of a tailored purification strategy to obtain a high-purity bioplastic alongside a microbial protein product for feed applications
