The Biopet project aims at using biotechnology to produce sustainable pet food. By applying fermentation processes to side streams from the agricultural and food industries, sustainable food and feed ingredients are created. Biopet’s fermentation method will produce yeast-based ingredients that serve as substitutes for animal fats. This will decrease CO2 emissions from the animal feed industry and reduce the use of land, drinking water and antibiotics.
